The Placement Habits That Fix Most Tower Defence Runs

The Placement Habits That Fix Most Tower Defence Runs

May 1, 2026 · Lukas Vogel

Most tower defence trouble isn't about having the wrong towers. It's about putting the right towers in lazy spots. After playing a dozen of these games back to back, I noticed the same fixable mistakes every time.

First, build toward the longest path exposure. A tower that covers a long stretch of road does far more than one that catches enemies for a second. Corners are gold for exactly this reason.

Second, separate your roles. Keep slowing towers early on the path and damage towers where enemies have already been slowed. Stacking everything in one cluster feels powerful but wastes coverage.

Third, leave room to upgrade. Beginners fill every slot, then hit a wall because they can't scale. A half-empty map with upgradeable towers beats a crowded one every time. These three habits alone pushed my win rate up across almost every game I tested.
